Drag Me To Hell Poster Analysis

Drag me to hell is an American horror/thriller that was released in 2009.

The main image on this poster is of a young attractive female victim that looks like she is being pulled into hell by demons. The victim looks like she is struggling to get away from the demons but is not strong enough. The hands that are grabbing her have long painted fingernails which tell us that they are also female. The fact that the main characters in this poster are female shows us that this film is aimed at a male target audience.

The dark background in this poster tells us that the worst scenes are filmed in the night time to give a scary felling. The house in the background could be the victims which suggest that she is wealthy or lives with an upper class family.

The main colours in this image are red and orange which have been used for the fire that represents hell. These colours have also been used to catch the viewer’s eye so they would watch the movie. Black has been used in the background to show darkness and danger creating a creepy look to the poster which emphasizes how much of a horror this film is.

The font in this poster is a simple font written in capitals to draw the viewer’s eye to the image displayed in the poster. The title looks like it has got some blood splattered across it which tells me that there will be some blood in this film.

The tagline in this poster is a small paragraph explaining who the main character is and it also gives you an idea of what will happen to her. Telling us that she lives a good life tells us that the start of the film will have the happy beginning but a twist will come about a third of the way in.
