Silent Scream Poster Analysis

 

The movie silent scream is an American movie filmed in 2005. This movie is also known as ‘the retreat’.

The main image in this poster looks like a female victim of some serious torture.  The image shows us that the person torturing this woman is making sure that she is unable to scream which links to the title of the movie.

We only see the victims face in this image to give us the feeling that she is suffering as much torture as possible. The way that the eyes are looking could show us that she is looking up to the killer/torturer and she cannot do anything about it.

Apart from the victim in this poster the producer only used the colour black in the background to show danger/threat. White is used for the title so that it stands out over the background. Some red is used in the eyes to catch the viewer’s eyes and show them how much pain is being put on her appealing to a male target audience.

The title for this poster is written in a font that looks like it has had chunks taken from it looking like it has been tortured. They have chosen this font to link with the story line of this movie where there is a lot of torture.

The tagline ‘pray someone hears you’ tells us that this film is based in a location where not many people go to or the torturer is going to try and make sure that no one will be able to hear the pain that the victims are going through. The title helps relate to this and helps to appeal to a male target audience.

In conclusion, I believe that the target audience for this film is males that enjoy watching torture.
